Variegated Frydek
Sometimes known as an Elephant's Ear plant (referring to the outdoor varieties). This tropical plant, native to regions of Asia or Australia, needs warm and humid conditions to thrive as a house plant. The alocasia likes extremely well draining soil to prevent rot but needs to be kept evenly moist. A houseplant mix with additional orchid bark or perlite is helpful. There are many different types of alocasia including the popular "african mask" plant or "Polly", the Frydek, black velvet, and more.
